Fabulous French Toast Recipe:
We all know French Toast is amazing and delishous, but some people don’t know how easy and inexpensive it is to make. My dad taught me this simple recipe when I was young and it never fails to please. These instructions should get you about 7 pieces of toast.
What you need:
- Loaf of bread (any you would like)
- 1-2 tsp. of Vanilla extract
- Cinnamon powder
- 3-4 Large eggs
- 1 ¼ cups of milk
- 5 Spice powder (optional)
- Butter
- White Sugar (or brown if preferable)
- Maple Syrup
- Frying pan
- Large bowl
- Fork to stir
I usually make this recipe by eye rather than by measurements, but these measurements I gave you should be about right to give you an idea of how much to put in your recipe.
The first thing you want to do is get a large bowl and crack 3 or 4 eggs and stir. This amount of eggs you want should depend on how “eggy” you’d like your toast to taste. I usually use 3. Next, mix milk in so the color becomes a very light yellow as you mix. This should now resemble potential scrambled eggs makings. Put in about 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract; by eye I make sure it’s about two or three small drops. Again you can use more or less depending on how “vanilla-ish” you want your toast. Then you are going to m ix in the cinnamon powder and the 5 spice powder. If you are using both, about one good throw of each powder. If just using cinnamon, two or three would be sufficient. Add just a small amount of sugar. After stirring all of these ingredients the result should look like a brownish yellow with brown spots everywhere.
Heat the pan to medium temperature: this should not take very long. Once it starts getting hot, but a generous amount of butter on the pan; I use about 2 tablespoons per set of toast. Once the butter begins to crackle and turn brown, dip a slice of bread into your wet mixture on both sides and put on the pan. Hopefully you can fit 2 or 3 slices at a time. Fry each side until it becomes a golden brown; be careful not to burn. Repeat these stepsuntil you’ve made as much French Toast as you can handle!
Put more butter on the slices while they’re still hot, drizzle on your syrup, add some more cinnamon powder on top and voila! If you have any, I suggest putting sugar powder on top as well. Enjoy!
